A batch of early injury updates for Liverpool during the international break

Liverpool could see the return of an almost forgotten player in the coming weeks, following a promising new injury update.

During the international break, fans often hold their breath in fear of new injury setbacks presenting themselves. The Reds have already seen multiple fitness blows this season.

Jayden Danns dealing with a ‘nasty injury’ for Liverpool

The Mail reporter answered a series of questions sent in by fans, revealing the latest on Arne Slot’s injury list.

“Stefan Bajcetic has been back on the grass at the AXA Training Centre, which is a good sign after surgery in the summer. It remains the case that he could get some minutes for the Under 21s.”

Bajcetic’s last appearance for Liverpool came in May 2024. The midfielder made a cameo appearance against Tottenham Hotspur after returning from injury, only to be re-admitted to the sidelines with a fresh hamstring problem. Before that, Bajcetic had not played for the Reds since 2023.

Jurgen Klopp had been eager to develop the midfielder into a regular senior figure but it remains to be seen the plans Slot has for the elusive 21-year-old.

As for Jayden Danns, there is no clear date in mind for his pending return. The striker has shown flashes of brilliance for the senior team when given the chance, and he enjoyed a run out against Southampton in the Carabao Cup earlier this season.

“Danns’s injury sounds nasty, though he is said to be in good spirits, Steele continued. “I don’t have a timescale yet and neither did Under 21s boss Rob Page the last time I asked him. It’s a great shame.”

Other Liverpool injury updates

Alexander Isak has been called up to represent Sweden in their upcoming World Cup qualifiers and new manager Graham Potter has provided a positive update on the striker.

Potter was brought into the fold on a short-term deal, with the aim to see Sweden qualify for next year’s World Cup. The pressure is on the former Brighton and Chelsea boss, as the Swedes have picked up just one point so far and must win their remaining two games.

“Alexander is here. I spoke to him briefly,” Potter told local reporters of Isak, via Fotbollskanalen. “He is doing well, has no issues.”

As per further updates from Steele, Alisson is ‘hopeful’ of being back in the Liverpool starting lineup against Nottingham Forest. The goalkeeper has not featured for the Reds since September.

Jeremie Frimpong on the other hand, may need longer before he’s back in contention. It was reported a fortnight ago that the right-back would be out for at least six weeks with his latest injury setback.
