La Liga’s two leading clubs have this week been made aware of the kind of fee with which they would be required to part, to strike a deal for AZ Alkmaar talent Kees Smit.
This comes amid confirmation that AZ are seeking a sum in the region of €25 million to allow their midfield sensation to depart.
As per a report from Keith Downie of Sky Sports, Newcastle United are also hot on Smit’s trail, alongside German champions Bayern Munich.
Significantly, it is added that his current employers ‘will not stand’ in the 19-year-old’s way, in the case of a sufficient offer arriving for his signature.

Smit, for his part, is widely considered one of Dutch football’s standout up-and-coming talents.
Depite his tender years, the midfielder is already one of the first names on the team sheet in Alkmaar, with two goals and two assists to his name across 11 Eredivisie appearances this season.
