Reports this week have suggested Newcastle United could be about to get aggressive in the transfer market in January.
For the first time in years, Newcastle have money to spend in January, and reports have led us to believe that the club plans to use that to its advantage in the winter window.
Newcastle are shopping for a new, young midfielder to come into the squad, and it looks as though they are ready to pounce in January in a bid to head off other interested clubs.
Most clubs will be waiting for the summer window to move for young talent as they're far more likely to move in the off-season, and the prices are usually more realistic.

Allan is the latest young prospect linked with Newcastle United
Newcastle United are eyeing their very own Brazilian with a middle-aged white man's name
Yesterday, it was claimed that Newcastle were ready to bid for Kees Smit from AZ Alkmaar in January in a bid to beat other sides to the punch, and today, a report from Bola VIP in Brazil has suggested something similar regarding 21-year-old Palmeiras midfielder Allan Elias.
It won't be easy for the magpies, however, as Allan has a £88 million release clause, so Palmeiras hold a lot of power in the negotiations. They have already seen off a £18 million bid from Zenit St Petersburg earlier this year.
However, it's believed that bids of around £28 million are expected in January, with Newcastle expected to be at the front of the queue.

Several Premier League clubs are tracking Allan
Everton, Fulham, West Ham and Brighton are all keeping tabs on Allan, but Newcastle would like to think they have the pulling power over those sides.
Allan would be seen as a project signing, similar to how we expect Kees Smit would be viewed, so it seems like Newcastle are stacking up a few options to fill that young project player for the midfield to go alongside Lewis Miley.
Allan is on the cusp of nailing down a place in Palmeiras' starting lineup after being used liberally as a substitute this season, and it's likely the more he plays, the closer he gets to that goal, and the higher his price rises.
