Everton will get the opportunity to bring in some new faces when the January transfer window opens up for business

Everton were busy on the recruitment front in the summer and delved into the market to bring in the likes of Jack Grealish, Thierno Barry and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, among others. They have the chance to sign some more players when the January transfer window opens up for business. The Toffees also have the opportunity to let some individuals leave this winter if needed.

David Moyes’ side won 2-0 at home to Fulham last time out before the international break at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. Idrissa Gana Gueye and Michael Keane got their goals. They are back in action on Monday 24th November away at Manchester United.

Everton linked with Celtic attacker Daizen Maeda

Everton are interested in a move for Celtic attacker Daizen Maeda, according to TEAMtalk. The Toffees are being linked with a swoop for the future. Leeds United, Brentford, Wolves and West Ham have also been mentioned as potential suitors of the £15m-rated ace.

Maeda, 28, is a Japan international with 25 caps to his name. He caught the eye playing in his native country for Yokohama F. Marinos before Ange Postecoglou lured him over to Scotland in 2022. The Osaka-born man initially joined the Hoops on loan before his transfer to Celtic Park was later made permanent.

He has since been prolific for the Glasgow giants and has scored 66 goals in 175 games for the Scottish Premiership champions, a whopping 33 of which came last season. However, his current club could face a real battle to keep hold of him amid attention from England. His contract expires in June 2027 meaning he still has a couple of years left to run down.

Everton could see Maeda as someone to boost their attacking department. If he joined, he would give Moyes more competition and depth up top. He has proved he knows where the back of the net is above the border and may want to test himself in a new league now.

Everton should propose swap deal with Celtic

Everton should try and test Celtic’s resolve by offering them a player plus cash for Maeda. The Toffees signed Adam Aznou as one for the future in the summer. He hasn’t played many minutes though and would benefit from a change of scene.

Letting the highly-rated defender depart for someone like the Hoops would be a shrewd decision by the Merseyside club. He needs to be getting some more exposure to senior football. That would help him get some more experience under his belt and boost his development.

Aznou, 19, penned a long-term deal with Everton and will be eager to break into their first-team down the line. If he joined Celtic in return for Maeda, he would give them more depth at the back. He started out at Barcelona before switching to Bayern Munich in 2022.

The full-back enjoyed plenty of minutes with Bayern’s II team before going on to feature for their senior team on four occasions. He was also shipped out by the Bundesliga champions on loan to Real Vallodolid in Spain last term. The youngster featured on 13 occasions in La Liga before he was snapped up by the Toffees for around the £8million mark.
