Newcastle United now trying to sign Allan Elias

It has now been reported in Brazil, that Newcastle United are trying to sign Allan Elias.

The attacking midfielder plays for Palmeiras and a host of clubs are keen to sign him.

Brazilian media outlet Bola Vip claim that Newcastle want to take Allan Elias to Tyneside as soon as possible.

Earlier this year it was reported that Palmeiras rejected an offer of just under £20m from Zenit earlier in the year.

Like many players in South America, Allan Elias has a sky high release clause fee inserted in his contract just in case… with his said to be around the £90m mark. However, any transfer fee would realistically be far below that.

Brighton, West Ham, Fulham and Everton have all been credited with interest already, with now Newcastle United claimed to be trying to get ahead of them and be proactive.

Like so many of these transfer stories in the media, difficult to know how much substance there is in the reports.

The report says that Palmeiras ‘compare his potential to the recent sales of Endrick and Estevão and believe he could reach a similar level.’

They also reference the fact that ‘Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton are in the [Newcastle United] squad, two players who can help him adapt [to life at St James’ Park].

The 21 year old appeared four times for Palmeiras at the Club World Cup this summer, starting two games and coming off the bench in another two, he contributed one assist.
