Eight-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Tyreek Hill is in recovery mode, following the brutal season-ending torn ACL injury he suffered in a win against the New York Jets. With that, his future with the Miami Dolphins seems uncertain, and a recent update may have sparked further buzz about him parting ways with the team.
On Friday, the former Chiefs player and Super Bowl champion updated his Instagram profile bio to include the word “Unemployed,” which may have been him hinting at his to-be-announced status with Miami. An X post from FinsXtra captured a screenshot of Hill’s cryptic update.
Hill suffered his injury in September, and as of early October, a CBS Sports report arrived suggesting the Dolphins would release the wide receiver in March before the start of the 2026 NFL season. In his four games this season, he had 21 receptions for 265 yards and a touchdown.
After spending six seasons playing for a much better Kansas City Chiefs team, Hill joined the Dolphins in 2022. He had a breakout 2023 season with a career-high and NFL-leading 1,799 receiving yards from 119 receptions, which tied his 2022 career high for receptions.
He signed a three-year, $90 million contract in Aug. 2024 with the team, leaving one season remaining on the deal. However, Hill also indicated that he had considered retirement after suffering his injury this season.
It’s been a disappointing season for the 3-7 Dolphins, with a recent 30-13 victory against the Buffalo Bills among their lone bright spots. The team is likely looking to rebuild, despite previous optimism that bringing in a speedy, talented receiver like Hill alongside Tua Tagovailoa would lead to more success.
Adding to the mysterious nature of his recent Instagram bio update is the fact that a similar update recently arrived in sports, which was accurate. Nico Harrison was fired as general manager of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks earlier this week and put the same “Unemployed” update on his profile bio, so Hill could also have been trolling by mimicking Harrison’s change.
