Kiffin is currently in his 6th season with the Rebels, currently sitting on an overall record of 9-1 so far in the 2025 college football season. While the Ole Miss head coach is at a comfortable spot in his career, many analysts believe he would want to go for a better job, which might be a stronger SEC program or the NFL.
Talking about a situation where Kiffin is considering the NFL, Colin Cowherd told Josh Pate during their latest conversation that the Ole Miss head coach might follow Jim Harbaugh’s footsteps because of his knowledge about the quarterbacks that are heading into the draft this year.
“I made this argumentbecause you can bounce around, Ole Miss, LSU, you can bounce around. If Ole Miss can pay10, LSU pays 11, there’s less pressure at Ole Miss, I’d stay, I’d stay at Ole Miss. Oxford’s beautiful, that Isaid, I think actually he could be an NFL coach. Um, and like Harbaugh, he’d walk into the sport for the first threeyears; he knows all these players way better than your GM does. Uh, also likea Miami Tua because of the contractual situation, is going to be your quarterback for a year, but you probablyhave to draft your next quarterback. And most of these guys are second-round quarterbacks. Well, he knows Nussmeier, and he knows Simpson. He knows all these guys. Uh, uh, South Carolina kid, uh, heknows all of them. So, by the second round, nobody’s going to know those quarterbacks better than Lane Kiffin. Heeither recruited him, played him, or played against him. “
