The Green Bay Packers head into their game against the Giants with the offensive line its healthiest in a long time – excepting, of course, sizable blow of losing Elgton Jenkins to injured reserve.
Aside from that, however, no one else has an injury designation on the final injury report of the week.
That didn’t seem like it would necessarily be the case with guard Aaron Banks missing Friday’s practice. Fortunately, the Packers confirmed, his absence was due to scheduled rest rather than injury.
Having Banks available a relief for Packers O-line that has been bruised and battered all season
The Packers need healthy bodies up front. Philly’s defense had the o-line in shambles last week, one of the reasons Green Bay couldn’t get anything going. At various points this season, just about everyone has dealt with some kind of lingering injury. Banks himself was nursing a neck injury during Week 10.

The loss of Jenkins definitely hurts, but at least the Packers are plagued with less uncertainty than usual nearing game day.
For his part, Banks has already missed two games this season. All in all Green Bay’s $77 million free agent signee has disappointed. Pro Football Focus ranks him 57th among 79 qualified guards. Average in pass protection (40th), Banks struggles mightily in run blocking (61st).
Part of that likely has to do with his consistent health issues – welcome to the NFL – but still, he hasn’t been good. The Packers didn’t get what they paid for.
They need him, though, even if he isn’t giving them what they hoped he would. They just need bodies up front. With a day of extra rest and a week blessedly free from nagging ailments, maybe Banks will get a boost on the field this Sunday.

Elsewhere on the injury report, cornerback Nate Hobbs will miss his second straight, as expected. Defensive end Lukas Van Ness is questionable, an upgrade for him after being ruled out multiple weeks in a row.
On the offense, receivers Matthew Golden (shoulder) and Savion Williams (foot) are also questionable. Both took part in practice this week as limited participants. Golden missed the first game of his career last week against the Eagles.
