The Seattle Seahawks ruled out rookie wide receiver Tory Horton (groin, shin) and center Jalen Sundell (knee) for Sunday’s NFC West showdown against the Los Angeles Rams.
Seattle head coach Mike Macdonald said injured reserve is “under consideration” for both players, which would require them to miss at least four games.
Brandt: JSN’s historic start still not getting enough attention
No other Seahawks carried game status designations on Friday’s injury report, which means every other player on Seattle’s 53-man roster is considered healthy enough to play in Sunday’s clash of 7-2 division rivals.
That means linebacker Ernest Jones IV (knee) and cornerback Josh Jobe (concussion) are both set to return after missing this past Sunday’s rout of the Arizona Cardinals. Wide receiver Jake Bobo (calf), who missed the past two games, is also set to return.
Rookie left guard Grey Zabel (heel) was limited in practice all week, but wasn’t listed with a game status designation.
Horton, a fifth-round draft pick out of Colorado State, will miss his second straight game after a strong start to his rookie season. The speedy wideout had 13 catches for 161 yards and five touchdowns through his first eight games, along with a franchise-record 95-yard punt return TD.
“It’s his shin right now, so just working through it,” Macdonald said. “Re-imaged it and found some stuff that’s gonna keep him out for right now.”
Sundell, who has started all nine games at center this season, suffered a knee injury against Arizona this past Sunday. Macdonald said Monday that Sundell was expected to miss “multiple weeks.”
Backup center Olu Oluwatimi, who battled Sundell for the starting job in training camp, will get the start Sunday. Oluwatimi has nine career starts, including eight last season.
