Dillon Brooks fined by NBA for lewd gesture during celebration

Dillon Brooks was fined $25,000 by the NBA for a lewd gesture in the Phoenix Suns’ 133-98 win over the Indiana Pacers on Thursday night.

The action occurred with 58 seconds left in the second quarter during his celebration after he was fouled while making a floater. Brooks converted the and-1 free throw to give the Suns a 67-52 lead.

Philadelphia 76ers star center Joel Embiid was fined $50,000 by the NBA for a similar move earlier this season, but it was not Embiid’s first time being fined for the same motion.

As for Brooks, it was the second time he was fined in this calendar year. He was fined in January for using profanity in a post-game interview as a member of the Houston Rockets.

He was also fined four times in 2023 and one other time in 2021.

The announcement was made by former Suns GM James Jones, who is now the executive vice president, head of basketball operations for the NBA.
