Bucks look to rebound against Hornets with Giannis Antetokounmpo likely to return

The Milwaukee Bucks fell to the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday, missing Giannis Antetokounmpo due to injury. Without their superstar, the Bucks struggled on the road and dropped a 111-100 decision to a Hornets team playing without LaMelo Ball.

Antetokounmpo sat out his second game of the season on Wednesday with a left knee issue. He has been listed on the injury report with this same concern for much of the year and previously missed Milwaukee’s 120-110 victory over the Golden State Warriors on October 30 because of it.

For the Bucks’ matchup against the Charlotte Hornets on November 14, the injury report lists Alex Antetokounmpo and Pete Nance as out while on two-way contracts in the G League. Kevin Porter Jr. remains sidelined following right knee meniscus surgery, and Taurean Prince is out with a herniated disk in his neck. Giannis Antetokounmpo is listed as probable with left knee patellar tendinopathy.

The Bucks shared on social media that the former back-to-back MVP is now officially listed as probable for Friday’s contest. Antetokounmpo was previously listed as probable with the same knee issue for Monday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks, where he scored 30 points to guide Milwaukee to a 116-114 win.

LaMelo Ball has also been listed as probable for the Hornets after sitting out the last five games with an ankle injury. Assuming no complications, he is expected to play Friday night.

On the court, Antetokounmpo is in his MVP form for the Bucks. Over 10 games this season, he is leading the league with 33.4 points on 62.9 percent shooting, while also contributing 11.9 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 1.3 blocks in 32.9 minutes per contest.

Injuries have interrupted Antetokounmpo’s strong start to the season. He missed Wednesday’s game with his knee issue, but the encouraging news is that he looks set to return for Friday’s rematch against the Hornets.

The 7-5 Bucks will face the Hornets in a rematch at Fiserv Forum on Friday, with tip-off scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET.
