Liverpool are looking at adding to their ranks in the coming transfer windows as they seek to bring down the average age of their squad
There is absolutely no doubt that Mohamed Salah will be remembered as one of the Liverpool greats whenever the time comes for the Egyptian to leave Anfield.
The 33-year-old penned fresh terms in the latter stages of the 2024-25 campaign as he committed to another two years on Merseyside. However, time catches up with us all and Salah will one day depart Liverpool.
His current deal has just over 18 months remaining and Liverpool need to start considering who the winger’s long-term replacement will be. That is no easy feat, given that Salah has scored 250 goals and provided 116 assists in 417 appearances since his £37m move from AS Roma in July 2017.
Liverpool eyeing Bayern Munich star Michael Olise
One player linked with the Reds is Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise. The 23-year-old former Crystal Palace man moved to Bayern in 2024 for around £50m. He has since scored 27 goals and provided 30 assists in 72 games for the German giants.
Fichajes reports that Liverpool “are prepared to make the biggest investment in their history to secure the signing of Michael Olise.” It is reported that it could take well over £150m for Bayern to consider parting ways with Olise.
That is because Bayern believe Olise’s potential to be “enormous” and only a mega-money offer would see them consider selling him but this is something the Reds are said to be willing to explore.
Michael Olise hailed by team-mates
Olise was involved in a 2-0 win for France against Ukraine back in September and his teammates and manager were keen to pile the praise on the former Selhurst Park player.
Defender Dayot Upamecano, who plays alongside him at Bayern Munich, said: "He's a magician. His technical level is very high. He can do everything. He can score, set up, and even defend."
Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann joined in the praise, as he said: "With every touch of the ball, he makes an attacking impact. He's a player who will do a lot of good for our team.”
Olise’s national team boss Didier Deschamps was equally as glowing, as he said: "Michael is brilliant. He's technically gifted, runs a lot, and moves cleverly. He has everything. He's doing very well for Bayern Munich and for us as well."
Olise also has experience of playing in England, with 90 appearances for Palace before moving to Bayern. He scored 16 goals and provided 25 assists for the Eagles.
