Everton are among the group of clubs that are chasing a move for Myles Lewis-Skelly in January.

The Arsenal left-back enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in the Premier League last season, but he has found regular gametime much harder to come by so far this term.

Everton appear ready to pounce on Lewis-Skelly, who has recently been told by Thomas Tuchel that he needs to be playing more football if he is to be considered for future England squads.

The 19-year-old has been tipped to have a big future ahead of him, and the latest comments from the England boss could be about to play into the hands of David Moyes and Co.

Everton interest in Lewis-Skelly creates ‘conflict of interest’

Everton’s interest in Lewis-Skelly is matched by the likes of Fulham and West Ham, who are also prepared to offer the starlet a route away from the Emirates Stadium this winter.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

The Toffees’ lack of depth in their backline would see them well-placed to offer the defender the minutes that he needs in order to make a last-minute push for next summer’s World Cup.

However, Mikel Arteta is understood to have no intention of allowing the youngster to leave this winter, which creates a clear barrier to any potential deal.

Nevertheless, ex-Everton scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – has backed the Merseysiders to push for Lewis-Skelly, and feels that there is a conflict of interest emerging between him and Arteta.

“Of course, if Arsenal were to agree to it, then a move to Everton would be excellent for him,” King said.

“It’s going to be a conflict of interest, because he’s a fringe player with England, and he’ll have to be playing regular football to have any chance at all.

“Everton will have to watch that space there, because if I were Arteta, I wouldn’t want to be losing players of an England international standard.

“Clubs can pick up injuries quite quickly, and that’s been Arsenal’s downfall in previous seasons.”

Lewis-Skelly deal to potentially trigger Adam Aznou loan exit

Adam Aznou has hardly featured for Everton since he joined from Bayern Munich in the summer, and he is yet to make his Premier League debut for his new club.

The Morocco international has been linked with a loan exit to La Liga in January, but with Vitalii Mykolenko currently the only other senior left-back at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Moyes will need to keep the youngster around.

However, if the move for Lewis-Skelly could be facilitated, then that could be the trigger that results in Aznou heading out to get gametime.

The England star would likely come in and bump both of the Toffees duo down the pecking order, which would surely then open the door for a much-needed loan spell for Aznou.
