The German press have been critical of Florian Wirtz on the back of the Liverpool player’s performance against Luxembourg.
Since making the move to Anfield, Wirtz’s form has been questioned by many pundits and former players.
The German media have previously defended the Liverpool player following criticism from England since his summer move.

However, after the 22-year-old started for the national team on Friday evening, his display has now been questioned by some outlets in the country.

Julian Nagelsmann’s men continued their fine form in World Cup qualifiers, picking up their fourth win from four.
Newcastle United striker Nick Woltemade netted a brace, while Wirtz started in his favoured number 10 role.
However, he had little impact on the fixture and has been a key talking point in the German press since.
1 & 1 highlighted the many mistakes Wirtz made and suggested his Liverpool problems have carried over into the national team.

They wrote: “No brilliance, numerous mistakes, but two Woltemade goals. The German national team struggles against underdog Luxembourg to take the penultimate step towards the World Cup. The players’ individual reviews.”
Spiegel were similarly critical, describing the Liverpool star as ‘weak’ in their headline.
They went on to claim that, along with Nagelsmann, Wirtz was ‘sometimes invisible’ during the 2-0 victory.

Florian Wirtz’s father speaks out on son’s Liverpool struggles
Despite being questioned in Liverpool and now Germany, Wirtz’s father is happy with how his son is performing so far this season.
As quoted by Sport 1, Hans Wirtz insisted his son is doing well in England and that he remains satisfied with how things are going.
He said: “Florian consciously took a step to become an even better footballer. And he doesn’t regret it in any way.
“He’s doing well in Liverpool, he looks forward to every training session, and he’s integrated well into the team. We are 100 percent satisfied with how things are going so far.
“I only take the criticism from the former internationals in passing. Florian is a young man who wants to prove himself in a new environment.”
One of the main issues facing the versatile midfielder at Anfield is how Arne Slot will use him.
Despite excelling against Real Madrid from the left flank, Robbie Fowler thinks Wirtz is a number 10 and should be used in that role going forward.
But he has failed to garner any sort of consistent form in that position so far, and it will be interesting to see how Slot tries to fit the German, Hugo Ekitike, and Alexander Isak into the same team moving forward.
