49ers face Elland Road wrath if Leeds United decision backfires on November 23rd

Leeds United fans may well have to wait to get their wish on Daniel Farke, as reports claim the 49ers may not sack him right away.

The 3-1 loss at Nottingham Forest looked written from the moment the home side equalised mere seconds after Lukas Nmecha’s opener.

A feeble game plan and inability to tweak in-game, as Sean Dyche’s side took control, was the latest sign for the Elland Road fanbase that Daniel Farke might not be the man to keep us up.

49ers may not sack Daniel Farke as Leeds United pressure grows

Even as the dust settled early in the week, most fans vocalising their opinions online had made their minds up on what needs to be done.

The 49ers, though, may see the situation differently regarding Farke. That’s according to the YEP’s Graham Smyth who shared what he’s hearing from Elland Road on the manager front.

“I wouldn’t be expecting it to be honest,” Smyth told The Square Ball podcast. “I would be very surprised, stunned, in fact, if they made a change at this point. Just not the sense I’m getting. It’s not what we’re hearing.”

Farke himself spoke post-Forest defeat about not panicking. His faith in Leeds’ ability to turn their form around stems from the 1.00 points-per-game currently accrued, which would have United on course for safety in his view, if they keep it up.

49ers face Elland Road boiling point if Leeds United sack decision doesn’t go to plan

Any decision that the 49ers make from hereon has risk attached to it.

If they sack Farke, they run the risk of finding themselves bumbling around for a replacement. Their efforts up at Rangers after dismissing Russell Martin far too late. However, if they keep Farke in for even a game longer, they could find themselves facing much more scrutiny on home turf.

Leeds return to LS11 after the international break with a home test against a seriously in-form Aston Villa. Unai Emery’s men just thumped the similarly-impressive Bournemouth 4-0. The Villans have won eight of their last 10 in all competitions. They’ll be smelling blood at Elland Road next Sunday.

Home form has been and will continue to be Leeds’ best chance of points on the board, but they’re undoubted underdogs after the international break.

Online vitriol and away end discontent is one thing. But, should the 49ers witness how badly Elland Road can turn, they might have their hand forced on Farke’s position.

That being said, a huge win against a good side on home turf would be just the tonic to keep Farke fighting in the job.
