Republic of Ireland striker Troy Parrott has continued his goalscoring exploits after being linked with Leeds United in the previous transfer window.

The 23-year-old has scored 13 goals in 14 appearances for AZ Alkmaar this season, with the former Tottenham striker catching a lot of people’s attention.

Parrott was being linked with a move to Elland Road in the summer, but the Whites deemed his £25million price tag too high at the time.

The West Yorkshire outfit went on to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin for Daniel Farke, but it’s safe to say that they could use a reliable addition up top in January.

The centre-forward scored twice at the Aviva Stadium, keeping the Green Army’s hopes alive of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.

In the first half against Portugal, the AZ forward scored twice, and Heimir Hallgrimsson’s team held on to their lead as Cristiano Ronaldo was sent off in the 61st minute.

The Republic of Ireland will face Hungary next at the Puskas Arena on 16 November, with a win guaranteeing their place in the March play-offs.

The Elland Road hierarchy were ready to sign Parrott in the summer if not for AZ’s demands, but they may certainly change their stance now as the centre-forward continues to make a statement in Europe.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Dutch outfit increase their demands after another impressive season from the Irishman, making a move in January sensible.

Who will make way for Troy Parrott at Elland Road?

Joel Piroe has fallen down the pecking order under Farke this season and has struggled for regular minutes.

The Dutchman hasn’t started for Leeds in their last eight Premier League games, sparking speculation about his future in LS11.

Piroe’s record at Leeds this season

It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Whites cash in on the former Swansea forward at the turn of the year and reinvest that money into Parrott, who has 32 caps for his national side.

Piroe’s situation at Elland Road is one to keep an eye on, with the West Yorkshire outfit in desperate need of a reliable goalscorer.
