Mason Greenwood is said to be holding out hope to play for England again, despite Steve McLaren's hopes he will switch allegiance to Jamaica.
The former Manchester United forward is currently flourishing in Ligue 1 with Marseille. Having departed United last summer, the 24-year-old has netted 31 goals and provided 10 assists across 51 appearances.
This campaign alone, he has also struck eight times in 11 outings, while setting a further three up. Given his impressive form in France, it's claimed the attacker is fixated on the prospect of donning the Three Lions shirt once more - with his sole international appearance coming during a narrow victory against Iceland in 2020.
According to the Daily Mail, Greenwood is 'obsessed' with the notion of returning to international duty with England. It comes despite McLaren revealing he was expected to link up with Jamaica for a recent training camp, as the Caribbean nation seeks qualification for the 2026 World Cup in North America.
Discussing Greenwood, the 64-year-old revealed in September: "We acquired a passport and we expected him to be coming to this camp. But in a conversation with his family, he's not going to commit at this time to anybody.
"He's taking his time over that, so it's a little bit disappointing. We probably have to be more patient, but we will keep the contact, we will keep pursuing him because I know from my conversations with Mason and his family that he loves Jamaica, respects Jamaica.
"He wants to concentrate on club football and not commit to an international team at the present moment. We have to respect that however much we've worked hard to get him here for these camps. So, who knows in the future," reports the Mirror.

It was believed earlier this year that Greenwood was poised to switch nationality to represent Jamaica; however, he now appears set on trying to win back a place in the England squad despite the controversial nature of his move away from these shores. Nevertheless, Thomas Tuchel confirmed in September that the player isn't under consideration.
At the time, the manager said: "I have not spoken to him until now. I have not spoken to him or his camp. My understanding was that he tries to play for Jamaica so we didn't give it another thought. He was not in the mix at the moment and he is not in our thoughts for our team."
It follows Greenwood being excluded from the Manchester United squad in 2022 while facing allegations of attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour. The charges were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service the following year but United cut ties as sold him to Marseille after an initial loan in Spain.
In the years since, Greenwood has sought to rebuild his career abroad, excelling during a loan stint with Getafe in 2023, before securing a permanent £26.6million transfer to Marseille last summer.
While England have secured their place in the 2026 World Cup in North America, and Jamaica are nearing qualification under McLaren, Greenwood has been taking it easy with no international football on the horizon for him anytime soon. He'll likely next be in action when Marseille take on Nice on Friday, 21 November.
