Newcastle United duo Lewis Hall and Lewis Miley played for the England U21s as they beat the Republic of Ireland U21s on Friday night.
Hall has played for the senior England side twice but was called into the U21s as he looks to build up his fitness following a series of injuries.
Miley, meanwhile, is still making his way through the England age groups.
The Newcastle stars were on the pitch at St Andrew’s in Birmingham as Lee Carsley’s side continued their perfect start to qualification for Euro 2027. Teammate Alex Murphy was on the bench for the Irish.

Hall played a major role in England’s win.
At his best, the 21-year-old is arguably too good for this level.
While not to disrespect U21s football, the left-back was a leading Premier League defender last season and looked at home at senior level for the Three Lions last year.
The former Chelsea star won the penalty from which Divin Mubama scored England’s opener.

As per Sofascore data, Hall had 61 touches, amassed a 95% passing accuracy, three clearances and eight recoveries.

Miley had a slightly quieter game but still produced a passing accuracy of 95%, while finding the mark with 93% of the passes he made in the opposition’s half.
The 19-year-old also contributed a tackle, an interception and a ball recovery.

Hall is highly rated by people inside the England camp, with Carsley the man who gave him his senior international debut in October.
Three Lions coach Thomas Tuchel also gave Hall his Chelsea debut back in 2022.
Journalists working at some of Britain’s biggest outlets covering the game were full of praise and suggested Hall was simply too good for the level.
Nathan Salt of The Daily Mail wrote: “Lewis Hall will be with the seniors in March.”
Hamzah Khalique-Loonat of The Times wrote: “Lewis Hall has been outstanding for England U21s tonight v Republic of Ireland. He has produced sharp short passes, played balls in behind, delivered quality crosses, won fouls, and dominated the left side. Looks a cut above.”

The left-back role is one of few spots in the England team that does not yet look fully sorted ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
Hall, if he can stay fit, surely has a chance to claim it.
