Guardiola ‘annoyed’ with Manchester City youngster’s situation – January decision on way

Pep Guardiola hardly utilised Claudio Echeverri at Manchester City in the second half of last season. The Argentine moved to England in January, a year after the Premier League side completed his signing from River Plate.

Manchester City let the 19-year-old join Bayer Leverkusen on loan in August so that he can enjoy more game time and adapt to European football. The move hasn’t gone well as per their plans.

The attacking midfielder has been limited 240 minutes from eight matches this season.

Bild claim Pep Guardiola is ‘annoyed’ at Bayer Leverkusen because of Echeverri’s situation at the club. This has also caused ‘frustration’ at Manchester City, who have a clause to cut short his loan stay in January.

The Citizens are set to face the German club in the Champions League at the Etihad on November 25th.

According to the report, the two clubs will discuss whether to cut short the Argentina U23 international’s loan stay. It’s claimed a ‘decision is expected by January’.

Bild are predicting that Echeverri will return to England. If that happens, Manchester City could send him on loan to another club in the winter market.

Two days ago, TyC Sports journalist Juan Cortese reported Echeverri would like to return to River Plate in the next window. He also stated Manchester City will have the final say on his future.
