Lamare Bogarde has returned to Aston Villa after being deemed unfit to play for Netherlands under-21s during this international window.
The 21-year-old reported for duty in Zeist on Monday with 'minor symptoms' and the decision was taken to send him back to his club.
Bogarde therefore didn't play in the Netherlands' 2-0 win over Slovenia on Friday evening and won't take part in their match with Israel on Tuesday.
A statement from the Dutch FA said: "Lamare Bogarde has left the Dutch U21 training camp. The Aston Villa player, who reported to Zeist on Monday with minor symptoms, is not fit enough to play this international break.
"Michael Reiziger will not call up a replacement, meaning the squad will be reduced to 23 players."
Bogarde has been a more prominent figure in Unai Emery's plans this season after making 16 senior appearances across all competitions last term.
Bogarde started Premier League wins over Fulham and Burnley and has played 11 times in total.
Villa return from the international break next weekend with a trip to Elland Road to face 16th-placed Leeds United.
