Darius Slayton just put a ring on world champion heptathlete Anna Hall’s finger. Big romantic moment, right?

Well, the NFL community didn’t exactly shower the Giants’ wideout with congratulations. Instead, they roasted him harder than a burnt timeout.
Darius Slayton Announces Engagement to Superstar Anna Hall
Slayton signed a three-year, $36 million deal with New York back in March. And based on his stone-hands season, folks chose to torch him even during his engagement announcement. They’re not buying the contract or his ability to hold onto anything, apparently.
Anna Hall took to Instagram and wrote, “My whole entire heart in the exact place we first met; I got to say yes to me & you forever ❤️.”
Congratulations to Darius Slayton on his engagement to Anna Hall! 💍

The couple shared their engagement photo session on both of their Instagram handles. Slayton knelt down, putting the ring on Anna’s hand. It was an absolutely romantic moment at the track where they first locked eyes.
But the savage fanbase does the job of flipping the heartwarming script immediately into a roast session. Instead of celebrating the couple’s proposal, they went straight for the jugular.
Some mocked whether he had fumbled the jewelry before slipping it onto her finger. You can’t escape your stats, not even during life’s most significant moments.
Slayton’s drop issues this season made him an easy target when you’re cashing checks that big and tallying seven drops with a 5.9% percent drop rate per target, fans will clown you, even on your engagement day.
Fans Torch Darius Slayton Over Drops and Contract
The comment section quickly turned into a roast session. One fan wrote, “He can afford a ring. He robbed Joe Schoen out of 36M.”
Another mocked, “Surprised he didn’t drop the ring.”
A third mockingly asked, “Did he drop the ring?”
The fourth noted, “He definitely dropped the ring as he walked out the jewelry store.”
A fifth remarked, “Surprised he didn’t drop the ring like he does with footballs on Sunday’s.”
In 2024, he had 39 passes for 573 yards and two touchdowns. That’s underwhelming production for a guy getting paid like a legit WR2. His seven drops marked a single-season career high, and it was his fourth season with at least six drops. Players can hardly survive in the league dropping that many passes.
The contract has become a punchline. Schoen’s getting heat for handing Slayton that bag when the production doesn’t match the price tag.
It is sad to see Hall have to be part of this ground reality despite being a world-class athlete. Here, performance defines everything. Drop too many passes, and fans will roast you at your own engagement party. That’s the real NFL game.
