Everton are hoping to sign Roma striker Evan Ferguson on loan in the winter transfer window.

According to Leggo on 14 November, the Toffees are exploring the possibility of bringing the Republic of Ireland international back to the Premier League.

Ferguson was being linked with a move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium in the summer, but he ended up moving to the Serie A giants temporarily from Brighton.

David Moyes has been let down by Thierno Barry and Beto this season, making the addition of a new number nine arguably a top priority at the Merseyside outfit.

Dan Friedkin has reportedly greenlit the arrival of Joshua Zirkzee at Roma, with talks underway with his agents.

Manchester United are also willing to send the player on loan in January, with an option to buy.

It’s been claimed that Ferguson could make way for the 24-year-old Netherlands international at the Stadio Olimpico, with the Brighton loanee possibly moving to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The 21-year-old has had a tough few months since breaking out at the Amex Stadium, with his stints at West Ham United and now Roma not working out.

TFG seem to have a lot of faith in Ferguson after chasing him for a while, and he may be the short-term solution needed up front for Moyes at the Blues in the winter transfer window.

If the young striker goes on to do well and find his feet in Merseyside, a permanent transfer in the summer certainly shouldn’t be ruled out.

David Moyes has another priority for January transfer

The Toffees certainly want a new number nine, with Moyes targeting a surprising move for Bayern Munich striker Nicolas Jackson.

While Everton certainly do need to add more numbers up front, the Scottish manager also needs to figure out his defence.

Another centre-back would surely go a long way in securing the Blues’ defensive depth, considering Jarred Branthwaite’s consistent fitness issues, while new full-backs should also be high up on the wishlist.

Seamus Coleman and Adam Aznou are the backups to Jake O’Brien and Vitalii Mykolenko, but Moyes doesn’t seem to trust them, as James Garner has played out of position on several occasions this season, highlighting a potential problem for the Merseyside outfit.
