His future continues to be a topic of conversation at Anfield. His current deal expires next summer, and he is yet to sign an extension to it.
Several big clubs in Europe are believed to be eyeing him up. Real Madrid have a longstanding interest in him, while Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have been credited with an interest too.
Liverpool remain determined to get him signed to a new deal. A recent report indicated that they had now made him a new offer to try and convince him to remain at the club.
There were also separate reports that the offer was part of an ultimatum from Liverpool. They have reportedly told the defender that either he signs a new deal, or he will be sold in the January transfer window. They are, naturally, keen to avoid losing him for nothing next summer.
Konaté has now idea where such reports are coming from, though. He’s certainly keen to dismiss claims of a new deal being offered to him at this point.
“I’ve seen a lot of things in the press recently, like Liverpool have made me a new offer,” he said.
“I don’t know where that’s coming from. My agents are still in discussions with Liverpool; I hope my decision will be made very soon so I can announce it.”
