This feels like it’s going to be a bloodbath. The Hornets are on the second night of a back to back coming off a super intense, overtime loss to the Bucks. The Thunder have had two days of rest after cruising to an easy 29 point win over the Lakers on Wednesday. On top of that, the Thunder are simply really, really good. They’re 12-1 with an average point differential of +15.5 points per game. They’ve won all of their last four games by an average of 24.5 points per game. Their only loss was by two points on the road to the Blazers in a game that they actually led by 22 points at one point. They’re destroying everybody.

The Hornets have looked much more competitive this season than they have in recent seasons, but they definitely don’t have the horses to match up with the Thunder. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is posting nearly identical stats to last year’s MVP campaign, Chet Holmgren has taken another step, and Ajay Mitchell is just Diet Jalen Williams now somehow. Isaiahs Joe and Hartenstein plus Aaron Wiggins are all averaging double figures alongside the aforementioned trio, and then there’s Lu Dort, Alex Caruso, and Cason Wallace not scoring a lot but also making the opponent not score a lot. It is an absurdly deep and balanced roster.

The Hornets have been playing reasonably well the last few games even if the results haven’t been there. They’ll have to play their best game of the season to give themselves a shot at an upset.
