The Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Charlotte Hornets 147-134 in what was Wisconsin native Kon Knueppel’s first ever game back in his home state. The Duke product, who was born in Milwaukee and played high school basketball at Wisconsin Lutheran, had a career-high 32 points to go with three rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
But his homecoming was spoiled by Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks, who overcame rebounding deficiencies to dominate the overtime period and avoid a second consecutive loss to Charlotte. The Greek Freak had 25 points, seven rebounds, 18 assists, two steals, and a block while Kyle Kuzma, who has been inserted into the starting lineup, led the team with 29 points and 10 rebounds.
Despite not being the team’s leading scorer, Giannis’ effect on the game was plain to see, and one of his newest teammates, Myles Turner, came away with a newfound appreciation of one of the two-time MVP’s most overlooked skills.

Going into the regular season, the Bucks’ plan to be competitive to a relatively weak Eastern Conference was to surround Giannis with as many high-quality three-points shooters as possible. The idea, of course, is that the nine-time All-Star would be able to hit wide open shooters as he drives to the basket, drawing multiple defenders.
And it has worked, so far, to the tune of an 8-5 record, and Giannis is averaging a career-high 7.3 assists per game.
Turner spoke after the game on Friday night about how incredibly underrated Giannis’ floor vision and passing are:
“I told him that after the game, ‘Just being your teammate now, you don’t get enough credit for how well you see the floor. He’s got an incredible feel for the game.
“It’s just years of experience, seeing multiple defenses thrown at him and whatnot, and he’s really mastered that part of the game. It’s just a testament to how much time he’s put into this game.”
As mentioned, Giannis had 18 assists on Friday night to go with 25 points and seven rounds.
Turner, for his part, finished with 18 points who shooting 6/8 from three, including two huge three pointers in overtime to help Milwaukee pull away.
Next, Milwaukee plays the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday night, their second game in as many nights.
