CLEVELAND, OHIO (TheOBR.com) - Good morning, Cleveland Browns fans!
THE DAILY BLOVIATION
BERNIE BATTLES: Our dear friend Bernie Kosar continues to struggle as he awaits a liver transplant. An organ thought to be a fit proved to be infected and unusable, and Bernie is undergoing treatment for internal bleeding with a series of “aggressive” procedures that don’t seem to be working.
Throughout it all, Kosar continues to show the courage and concern for others that have made him beloved throughout the Browns community and far beyond. Hospital bills, as you can imagine, are mounting, and a GoFundMe has been set up to help - Head here to donate.
If you can’t donate, prayers and well wishes are also valued. Channel 19 has a page where folks can upload videos, photos, and so forth, wishing Bernie well.
YOUTUBE AND DISNEY AGREE: ESPN and ABC sports programming are back on YouTubeTV after the two massive mega-corporations worked out a deal to get programming back on the air after a carriage dispute.
I recall these well from my days at FOX Sports Ohio/SportsTime Ohio when cable companies would balk at the fees demanded by the network for its programming, and then the two would fight in public, blaming the other for the dispute.
Nothing has changed. Instead of worrying about the cable company’s profits and being used as a pawn in a pricing dispute, we’re now victimized by Google and the programming providers. I pay a ton of money for YouTube TV so I can operate from my desktop while watching games and “working”. That will go up, Google and Disney will get comfortably rich, while I resist the urge to cancel AT&T U-Verse because you never know when Google or AT&T will yank coverage for NFL and college games. Meanwhile, I’m still waiting for fiber, which was promised well over a year ago.
But I’m not grumpy about the situation. Not at all.
SURE, WE CAN WAIT ANOTHER YEAR: The media drumbeat continues regarding the state of the 2026 quarterback class, with Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit now jumping in to say that teams might go on to wait until 2027 to get their guy.
The 2027 QB class could be loaded, with talents like Julian Sayin, LaNorris Sellers, Arch Manning, and Dante Moore all likely to be available. Fernando Mendoza looks like QB1 of this class, but few are saying he’s likely to be elite.
2027 really looks like a key draft year, not only at quarterback, but with talents like Jeremiah Smith and Ryan WIlliams potentially available at wide receiver, and some premier pass rushers as well.
All of this is rough news for Browns fans, who have been waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, and waiting for the team to inject new talent that would make it competitive. It would also be tough for the Browns front office to survive another year to bring in difference-makers in the draft. All of it times up incredibly poorly for Cleveland, continuing the unfortunate luck that has plagued the franchise since 1999. But if they were wrong on the initial assessment for 2026, how much confidence can we have in the assessment for 2027? And the beat goes on.
CHEER UP: I’m sorry that I’ve been bringing negative news and vibes to this Massive Morning Missive over the last couple of days; the news isn’t working with me. Here’s hoping that better days are ahead.
Have a good one! GO BROWNS!

When times are tough, it’s up to us to stand up. And, generally, we do. It’s one of the encouraging signs about the human race in general, and Americans in particular. With increasing automation, it’s now even easier to give to people in need.
