Aaron Glenn has typically dismissed questions about the New York Jets‘ quarterback situation with little hesitation. His tone shifted noticeably during Friday’s media availability following the team’s 27-14 loss to the New England Patriots.
Glenn acknowledged he is genuinely evaluating all options at the position, including the possibility of benching Justin Fields in favor of Tyrod Taylor. The mini-bye provides him additional time to assess whether a change is warranted.
A troubling statistical trend has emerged that connects Fields to one of the darker periods in recent NFL history. The comparison has intensified the scrutiny surrounding his performance and the Jets’ troubling stretch.

The decision to keep Fields as the starter has raised questions about the reasoning behind the Jets’ approach. Some believe the team may be prioritizing draft positioning or attempting to justify the $30 million guaranteed to Fields.
Those factors do not align with the priorities of players focused solely on winning games.
Reports suggest members of the roster view Taylor as a stronger option to help the team succeed down the stretch. Continued reliance on Fields without tangible improvement could erode confidence in Glenn’s leadership within the locker room.
New York returns to action on Nov. 23 against the Baltimore Ravens. While playoff contention is no longer realistic, the organization hopes to finish Glenn’s first season with momentum. A stronger close would create a better foundation entering a critical offseason period.
The Jets hold five first-round picks across the 2026 and 2027 drafts, providing significant flexibility for roster construction. Fields’ future with the franchise remains unclear as the team may explore both drafting a quarterback and adding another veteran presence at the position.
