Opinion: David Moyes must listen to Carlo Ancelotti's clear statement towards Everton's January …

Everton are preparing for their January transfer market with a number of targets already on their radar, but they may need to lean on Carlo Ancelotti when it comes to one player on their radar.

David Moyes has almost been back on Merseyside for a year and in that time he has been able to put his stamp on the squad inherited from Sean Dyche.

The Friedkins fully backed Moyes in the summer transfer window, but there are still areas of the squad which could do with some added quality.

January is going to offer the new Everton owners an opportunity to build on what they have started to create on Merseyside.

Everton News understands that Everton are seeking a new striker after an underwhelming start to the season from their current options.

However, when it comes to one player on their radar, they may need to consult with former manager Ancelotti.

Everton may need to listen to Carlo Ancelotti’s Richarlison statement

Everton News is aware that Richarlison would be keen to return to Everton in 2026 following some difficult years in north London.

With Everton in need of a new striker, there will be many fans on Merseyside who would love to see the former fan favourite play his football once again for the Blues.

On Saturday, Brazil were in action against Senegal and Ancelotti decided against starting Richarlison up front.

Instead, Manchester United’s Matheus Cunha played as the lone striker.

Richarlison is hoping to impress Ancelotti and earn a spot in Brazil’s squad for the World Cup next year.

Having made a return to the squad earlier in the season, the Tottenham forward is now falling in Ancelotti’s hierarchy as he struggles to find the net consistently in north London.

Everton need to secure themselves a striker they can rely on in January and Ancelotti’s lack of faith in Richarlison to start in a friendly may speak volumes to those on Merseyside.

Richarlison will not prove the prolific striker Everton need

The Brazilian may have scored in his last Spurs outing and he may have scored more than Thierno Barry and Beto combined, but history would suggest he is not capable of being that prolific striker.

Everton News columnist Alan Myers is not convinced Everton will bring Richarlison back despite the clamour from some fans.

Missing out on the starting spot with Brazil to Cunha – who is not even a striker – feels like a damning statement from Ancelotti on how he feels about Richarlison.

Going back to their time together at Everton, Ancelotti hailed Richarlison’s talent, but the forward has not exactly developed since.

Everton are scouring Europe for striker options and there will be a number of players who could offer them more than Richarlison.
