PHILADELPHIA -- The Detroit Lions have downgraded four injured players to out for Sunday night’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Edge rusher Marcus Davenport, cornerback D.J. Reed, linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez and offensive lineman Miles Frazier were not activated from injured lists and downgraded to out.
Rodriguez is the lone slight surprise from that group.
Davenport and Reed just returned to practice earlier this week, and coach Dan Campbell made it sound like each veteran needed more time. Campbell has targeted an early December return for Reed and his injured hamstring. Davenport hasn’t had a firm timetable, but said he was thrilled to be back at practice after suffering a pectoral injury in Week 2.
Frazier has been back at practice for the last two weeks. The rookie offensive linemen missed all of training camp and the preseason after suffering a knee injury in the spring. He’ll have another week of practice before the Lions have to make a decision.
But Rodriguez has been back at practice for three weeks. The hard-hitting, throwback linebacker has been out since last November due to an ACL injury. Rodriguez must be activated from the PUP injured list by this upcoming Tuesday (Nov. 18) as his 21-day practice acclimation window nears its end.
The Lions have Ty Summers on their roster at linebacker. Summers is likely to see more work on special teams, while Jack Campbell, Alex Anzalone and Derrick Barnes lead the way for the linebackers.
Isaac TeSlaa was also added to the injury report on Saturday afternoon. The rookie wide receiver is dealing with an oblique injury and is questionable.
TeSlaa saw his role grow in the first game with Dan Campbell calling the offense. He played only 12 offensive snaps across the Week 7 and 8 games, then played 20 in last week’s win over the Washington Commanders. TeSlaa caught one pass for 11 yards, his first catch since securing a 12-yard touchdown catch in Cincinnati in Week 5.
The wideout was not listed on the injury report for the week, so this is something new to track.
The Lions already ruled out cornerback Terrion Arnold, safety Kerby Joseph, tight end Sam LaPorta and edge defender Josh Paschal. Left tackle Taylor Decker, cornerback Amik Robertson, running backs Jacob Saylors and Sione Vaki, tight end Brock Wright and right tackle Penei Sewell are questionable. Pat O’Connor was placed on injured reserve due to a back injury, opening a roster spot heading into the weekend.
