Veteran quarterback Russell Wilson is holding on to his position with the Giants, despite a series of setbacks in 2025.

The 36 year old has been demoted from starting quarterback to third choice behind rookie Jaxson Dart and fellow veteran Jameis Winston in just two months at MetLife Stadium. His demotion from being Dart's backup came as recently as this week as the Giants look to move forward after Brian Daboll's sacking.

In short, it's been a nightmare start to life in New Jersey for Wilson, and it is looking likely that he will once again be on the move once his one-year contract with the Giants runs out in the New Year, having also endured unsuccessful stints with the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers.

In fact, it's now unlikely that Wilson will ever get the chance to see the field again with the Giants, with Winston taking over as the backup and likely starter against the Green Bay Packers this weekend, should Dart be ruled out.

After the youngster was forced to leave Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears with a concussion, Wilson entered the game for him, yet was once again subject to boos from the crowd.

Days later, it was revealed that Winston had replaced him as the backup quarterback.

The former Seattle Seahawks star isn't ready to hang up his Giants jersey or his NFL career just yet, but he's focusing on living in the present rather than worrying about the future.

Russell Wilson's future with the New York Giants is looking bleak, but he is refusing to give up

"Yeah, I definitely wanna be able to and definitely wanna have that opportunity," Wilson shared with reporters on Wednesday when questioned about his thoughts on his future and the possibility of a fresh start in the NFL.

"I know what I'm capable of - I think I showed that in Dallas (Week 2), obviously. I'm just looking forward to having the rest of a great day today. I say that because that's how I've always been. In the midst of amazing moments, I've always been about the moment right now."

Wilson then quoted his favorite Bible verse, demonstrating his commitment to maintaining his faith both on and off the field.

"My favorite scripture is Matthew 6:33. It's my life philosophy, I would say," Wilson elaborated. "'Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added on to you'. Verse 34 says 'Don't worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow has enough worries in itself.'

"I know what I'm capable of. I know how great I am. I know what I've done. I know a couple of games here and there haven't gone our way, but I'm just excited for the next opportunity to step between the while lines.

"That's how I've always been. I'm not gonna stop swinging. That's just what I know. God will work in my favor, he always has, and I'm just grateful that I get to play this game, to be in this organization. It's a great organization.

"My time will come again to play and get ready to rock and roll. I'll be ready to go. [...] I think those little swings will turn in our favor, as a team and for me personally, too. I just believe that. I've seen it, and I'll see it again."
