ESPN's Scott Van Pelt has apologized to Russell Wilson after trolling the New York Giants quarterback on social media.
Following his year in Pittsburgh, Wilson joined the Giants this past offseason. Alongside Wilson, the Giants further reshaped their quarterback room by drafting Jaxson Dart in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, whilst also bringing in Jameis Winston.

Wilson started the season as the Giants starter before he was eventually benched for Dart. However, during New York's Week 10 clash against the Chicago Bears, Wilson found himself under center once again for the Giants after Dart had to be taken out of the game with a concussion.

Unfortunately for Wilson, his return to taking snaps for New York went dismally. He completed three of seven passes for 45 yards, with the Giants throwing away a 10-point lead with just four minutes left to play against the Bears, losing 24-20 in a game that sealed Brian Daboll's fate as their head coach.
Daboll was fired following the defeat to Chicago, with the franchise now searching for their next head coach. This week, they return to action against a Green Bay Packers side reeling from a narrow defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles.
But, with Dart out, the expectation would be that Wilson would be starting in his place against Green Bay. Instead, it will be Winston who starts.

Back in 2020, Wilson, then with the Seattle Seahawks, introduced fans to his alter-ego, 'Mr Unlimited', in a video that has been resoundingly mocked given the fall off of his play following the 2020 and 2021 seasons.
Having watched Wilson try to lead the Giants offense against Chicago in place of Dart, Van Pelt took to social media, writing on X: "Mr Limited."

However, on the latest episode of his SVPod podcast, Van Pelt has apologized to Wilson, explaining he was being "a d---" in mocking the quarterback with a mean comment. "During the Giant game, at the end of it, I sent out a tweet about Russell Wilson, I said, "Mr. Limited." That was mean," said Van Pelt.
"Don’t do s--- like that. I don’t send out snarky tweets. That was small. We shouldn’t do that. That’s not the way to act. Don’t be a d--- on Twitter and that’s what that was.

He continued: "But it was fascinating to find out there is a Russell hive out there that came for my head and told me I was a bald b----- But it was just wild that this group activated out of nowhere… it was just wild to see. It seems like bot-activated activity.

"I don’t know how that works, but it was fascinating to find out that there were folks that were ready to come for my head as if the last four years of Russell Wilson is all a made-up thing."
