Buffalo Bills elevate Josh Allen’s favorite deep threat just one year after a devastating injury

The Buffalo Bills are hoping that an old friend can spark things in the passing game on Sunday when the team hosts the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

On Saturday, Buffalo announced the following roster moves and elevations, including an elevation for wide receiver Gabe Davis.

Signed WR Mecole Hardman from the practice squad.

Activated DT T.J. Sanders from injured reserve.

Released CB Brandon Codrington

Elevated WR Gabe Davis and TE Keleki Latu from the practice squad.

Davis is expected to step into an immediate role in the passing game, almost exactly one year to the day that he tore his meniscus as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars. The veteran has been rehabbing the injury with Buffalo since signing with the practice squad in early September.

This week, Davis spoke on the team needing to be more consistent, as well as playing to their standards.

“Honestly, I just think we have to play to our standards,” Davis told the media. “I feel like we all, as a collective, forgot about how hard it is to win. It doesn’t matter who we play. It’s about us, and we got to go out there and play our game.”

In his first stint with the Bills, Davis proved to be a big-play threat, averaging 16.7 yards per catch. He will look to pick up where he left off with Josh Allen starting tomorrow.

Hardman’s signing to the main roster may have some faster than some expected, but the move makes sense. Buffalo’s return game has struggled this season, and the veteran will provide an immediate boost in this area. Hardman could also see some time on offense depending on the team’s inactive list tomorrow.

Defensive tackle T.J. Sanders will provide a boost to the team’s depth at defensive tackle. Sanders will join Larry Ogunjobi and Jordan Phillips behind the team’s starters, DaQuan Jones and Deone Walker. Buffalo’s second-round pick showed flashes early in his rookie season pre-injury, but will need to be more consistent going forward.

Keleki Latu had a strong summer at Bills training camp and was elevated for tomorrow’s matchup with Dalton Kincaid out of action. Latu will serve as Buffalo’s No. 3 tight end behind Dawson Knox and Jackson Hawes.
