Two-time All-Star Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant can barely stay on the hardwood anymore.
Thanks to health and suspension issues, the Murray State product appeared in a combined 59 games across the past two seasons, and his availability has been on a stead slide since he played a career-high 67 contests in the pandemic-shortened 2019-20 season. Memphis played 73 games that year.
Amid what’s looking like a lost season, the 6-foot-2 standout departed Memphis’ ongoing road matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers with a new injury in the first quarter, and has already been ruled out for the duration of the bout with a sore right calf, per Marc Stein of The Stein Line.
Without Morant available for the Grizzlies, Cleveland closed the opening quarter strong, going on a 10-4 run to narrow its deficit to 32-28 heading into the second frame.
