Lions' Amon-Ra St. Brown Hit With Major NFL Fine Before Eagles Game

The Detroit Lions (6-3) are preparing for one of the biggest matchups of their season-a true measuring stick to see how they stack up against the NFL's elite-as they travel to the City of Brotherly Love for a Sunday night showdown with defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles (7-2).

However, ahead of the game, Lions star receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown was hit with a notable punishment from the NFL.

On Saturday, the league announced its weekly fines, and following St. Brown's altercation with Washington Commanders defender Daron Payne, who was ultimately ejected and suspended for his actions in last week's game, the Pro Bowl WR took a hit to the wallet.

Video showed that St. Brown initiated the confrontation with a small strike toward Payne. While he wasn't ejected, St. Brown was fined $12,171 for unnecessary roughness. Payne escalated the situation by retaliating with a punch, which led to his ejection and suspension.

The NFL reportedly took the full context of the incident into account when issuing penalties.

On his podcast with his brother, St. Brown explained his side of the altercation.

"Payne comes out and bumps me, I'm like, what the [explicit]? So I hit him and he starts talking [explicit]. Then I hit him again, I accidentally hit him in the face," St. Brown said.

The Lions went on to dominate the game, winning 44-22. St. Brown finished with five receptions for 58 yards and one touchdown.

Now, St. Brown’s focus is squarely on helping the Lions secure a big win on primetime against the Eagles-a team they'll likely have to get past if they want to compete in the NFC and make a run at the Super Bowl, a feat that has never been accomplished in franchise history.
