The Arizona Cardinals lost to the Seattle Seahawks 44-22 on Sunday without linebacker Mack Wilson and will have to play at least the next four games without the former Carver-Montgomery and Alabama standout.
Wilson missed the previous game because of a rib injury, an ailment that caused the Cardinals to place Wilson on injured reserve on Saturday.
NFL rules require players on injured reserve to miss four games before they can return to the active roster, so Wilson is out for Sunday’s meeting with the San Francisco 49ers as well as contests against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Nov. 23, Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Nov. 30 and Los Angeles Rams on Dec. 7.
The earliest that Wilson could play for Arizona again is on Dec. 14 against the Houston Texans. The Cardinals have eight games remaining on their regular-season schedule.
Through the first eight games of the season, Wilson led Arizona with 60 tackles. He also has three tackles for loss, one interception, six passes defensed (tied for the most on the team) and one forced fumble.
Wilson played 97 percent of the Cardinals’ defensive snaps in the first eight games of 2025, which is his seventh NFL season.

Offensive lineman Evan Neal has not played a snap for the New York Giants in 2025, and he won’t be able to until at least Dec. 21. The Giants placed the former Alabama All-American on injured reserve with a hamstring issue on Saturday.
The seventh selection of the 2022 NFL Draft, Neal started at right tackle in the first 22 games that he played with New York. He came back from an ankle injury to start seven more games last season.
This season, Neal dressed for the Giants’ 34-24 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Nov. 2, but he did not get in the game. For New York’s other nine games in 2025, Neal has been designated as a game-day inactive.
With Neal in the final season of his four-year rookie contract, he might have played his final game for the Giants. He will become an unrestricted free agent in March if not re-signed by New York before then.
While Neal and Wilson will not play on Sunday, former Hillcrest-Evergreen standout Cobee Bryant will be eligible to make his NFL debut when the Atlanta Falcons play the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
A member of Hillcrest’s 2017 AHSAA Class 3A championship team, Bryant earned All-State honors with the Jaguars in 2018.
Bryant joined the Falcons from Kansas as an undrafted rookie in May. While the cornerback didn’t survive the preseason-to-regular-season roster cut, Bryant rejoined Atlanta as a member of its practice squad.
Each NFL team can elevate two practice-squad members to active status for every game. This is the first time that Bryant has been elevated this season.
