LeBron James Unloads on Cop in Nyck Harbor Video

NBA superstar LeBron James isn't happy with the actions of the Texas state trooper who bumped into South Carolina's Nyck Harbor and then yelled at him.

The incident was captured on a viral video, and that prompted James to weigh in on his X page, calling for the trooper's suspension.

The trooper has not been named.

"That A&M cop needs to suspended! That was premeditated and corny AF!! He went out his way to start some (expletive). Do better man," James wrote on X. However, the officer was not an A&M police officer, but rather a Texas state trooper, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

James wasn't alone in his outrage. The video shows Harbor and another player simply walking through the tunnel when the cop bumped into both of them and then whipped around, pointed at Harbor, and yelled at him, although what he said was not clear.

The incident generated widespread criticism against the officer on social media.

The trooper's actions were met with immediate response from his superiors. They sent him home from the game. It's not yet clear whether additional action will result, including the suspension desired by James.

However, the Texas Department of Public Safety and Texas A&M police both confirmed on their X pages that the trooper was relieved of his game-day duties and sent home.

What upset people on social media is that it didn't appear that Harbor had done anything wrong. In fact, according to The Associated Press, Harbor was limping after scoring "on an 80-yard reception." Rather, the video shows the officer bumping into Harbor and the other player before yelling at Harbor.

When you slow it down, it sure looks like #27 tries to move out of the way and the cop throws his left arm into him to initiate contact. https://t.co/xWnH0WtGO1pic.twitter.com/5DKu2Eye9Q

One X user slowed down the video. "When you slow it down, it sure looks like #27 tries to move out of the way and the cop throws his left arm into him to initiate contact," that user alleged.

"What the HECK is up with this Texas State Trooper at the Texas A&M game?! So freaking RUDE and uncalled for!" wrote another X user.

Texas A&M Police Confirmed the Trooper Was 'Relieved of His Game Day Assignment'

Many social media users clamored for immediate action against the trooper.

"We are aware of the incident in the NE tunnel involving a DPS trooper. He has been relieved of his game day assignment," Texas A&M police wrote on X.

The Texas Department of Public Safety wrote, "The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is aware of the incident that occurred today during the Texas A&M football game. The DPS Trooper involved was sent home from the game. Our Office of Inspector General (OIG) is also aware of the incident and will be further looking into the matter. No additional information will be released at this time."

Some fans argued sending him home is not enough punishment. "Removing him from ONE assignment isn't enough-he needs to be fired or seriously disciplined. This is unacceptable for ANY LEO!!" an X user declared.
