Micky van de Ven signed for Tottenham Hotspur from VfL Wolfsburg in the summer of 2023, and he has been a feature in the first XI at N17 since.
The Dutchman has taken significant strides under Thomas Frank, showcasing immense quality and leadership on the pitch. Regarded as one of the best central defenders in the Premier League, the 24-year-old has added goals to his armoury from the start of this season. With six goals in all competitions, Micky van de Ven is Spurs’ top scorer.
Becoming an influential figure at both ends of the pitch, it is no surprise that Netherlands international is now coveted by some top clubs. Liverpool are reportedly among the European elites monitoring the progress of Micky van de Ven.

Liverpool tipped to sign Van de Ven to replace skipper Virgil van Dijk
Former Netherlands international Khalid Boulahrouz has now tipped Liverpool to replace their ageing skipper Virgil van Dijk with Van de Ven.
“He really stands out. He’s physically strong and incredibly fast. Opponents know that, so they don’t even try to get past him anymore. He could be better on the ball sometimes; he makes the occasional mistake. But overall, I think he’s fantastic,” Khalid Boulahrouz told in an interview with NL ESPN.
Van Dijk has been one of the best defenders in the world for several years now, helping Liverpool win multiple titles. However, he is 34 now and has struggled to pick his best form this season, with the Reds losing five out of 11 Premier League games this season and falling eight points adrift of league leaders Arsenal.

Tottenham Hotspur urged to hand Micky van de Ven a lucrative new deal.
As such, Liverpool are planning for Van Dijk’s future and want Van de Ven to replace him in the long run. However, Spurs are not willing to listen to offers for their defender as he is a crucial cog to Thomas Frank’s side. The 24-year-old has arguably been the Lilywhites’ standout performer this season, dealing with the opposition attackers effectively as well as contributing handsomely in attack.
To reward for his impressive performances and rise in stature, as well as to extinguish potential suitors’ hopes of signing him, Tottenham want to hand Van de Ven a new deal. In fact, Spurs CEO Vinai Venkatesham has promised to put the Netherlands star on level contract terms with his defensive partner and captain, Romero.
This demonstrates the faith the Hotspur Way chiefs have in Van de Ven, viewing him as a valuable asset for now and in the long run.
