New York Knicks guard Landry Shamet experienced the game of his life in the Knicks’ exhilarating 140-132 win over the Miami Heat on Thursday, and the Madison Square Garden crowd showed their appreciation.
Shamet scored a career-high 36 points — 30 in the second half — in the win. His performance came at the perfect time for the Knicks, who were already playing without Jalen Brunson, and lost OG Anunoby to a hamstring injury early in the contest.
Shamet has been a revelation for the Knicks off the bench so far this season after signing for the minimum with the team in the offseason, averaging 10.0 points per game and shooting 44 percent from three-point range.
Shamet’s performance helped push the Knicks to a record of 8-1 at home to start the season. Shamet talked about the impact of the Madison Square Garden crowd, and how it helped fuel his career night as the crowd chanted his name throughout MSG.
“I think these fans know I love them,” Shamet said. “I'll say that until I'm blue in the face. I love it. Love the energy every night.”
Shamet will look to continue his strong start to the season as he aims to be a key figure for a contending Knicks team this season.
