Everton’s new state-of-the-art Hill Dickinson Stadium has been selected as a venue for the UEFA European Championships in 2028.
It was announced earlier this week that the Hill Dickinson Stadium will host five games at the Euros in a few years.
Everton will receive a small financial boost from renting out their stadium, however, from a brand perspective, it will be transformative.
“So this is going to be all about developing the brand. That’s not to be sniffed at. The fact that Aston Villa and Man City, for example, have aligned the timelines for their stadium expansion projects with Euro 2028 tells you that clubs value this exposure,” finance expert Adam Williams told Everton News.
The Hill Dickinson is set to be expanded to around 60,000 seats before the tournament begins, and another major change is on the horizon, too, as they’ll be forced to change the stadium’s name.

Everton to change Hill Dickinson Stadium name in line with UEFA rules
Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium won’t actually be called that for the Euros in 2028 due to UEFA regulations.
According to Stadium DB, the rules state that host venues must change their names to ‘avoid conflict related to commercial sponsorship’.
MORE EVERTON STORIES
Every ground must have a neutral name. So, for instance, at the Euros in 2024, Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena was changed to the ‘Munich Football Arena’.
RB Leipzig’s Red Bull Arena was forced to change its name to the ‘Leipzig Stadium’ for the month-long tournament.
And, according to the UEFA website, the Hill Dickinson Stadium will be known as the ‘Everton Stadium’.
The other host venues will also have to undergo a similar rebrand, with the Etihad Stadium changing to the ‘Manchester City Stadium’.
The Principality Stadium will be changed to the ‘National Stadium of Wales’.
What games are Everton hosting at Euro 2028?
Everton will be hosting four Group Stage games at Euro 2028 and one knockout fixture in the round of 16.
Here is the planned schedule at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
11th June 2026: Group D fixture
14th June 2026: Group A fixture
17th June 2026: Group E fixture
20th June 2026: Group C fixture
24th June 2026: 2A vs 2B
The final will be held in London at Wembley Stadium on the 9th of July in front of 86,000 spectators, seven years after the 2021 final at the same venue.
Italy defeated England on penalties that day, so the Three Lions will be desperate to clinch the trophy for the first time ever back on their own patch.
