Barcelona winger slams the door on January exit amid strong interest

Barcelona’s winter transfer window is already shaping into a storyline filled with speculation, interest from abroad, and growing pressure surrounding the club’s brightest young talents.

Among those at the centre of attention is Roony Bardghji, the Swedish wonderkid who arrived at Barça with immense expectations but has had limited opportunities so far this season.

Despite the reduced game time, his future has now taken a clear turn after fresh claims from SPORT revealed that Bardghji has decisively closed the door on any January exit.

The young winger has spent the first half of the season squeezing the most out of the minutes handed to him.

So far, Bardghji has only accumulated 173 minutes in La Liga and an additional 22 minutes late on in two Champions League fixtures.

With such a restricted role, it was natural for outside clubs to sense an opportunity, and several sides across Europe began to monitor the situation closely.

Prior interest in the winger

As reported before, clubs such as Stuttgart and Porto were keeping close tabs on Bardghji’s availability, particularly if Barcelona were to consider a loan move in January.

Within Barcelona, however, Hansi Flick has shown little desire to change the squad mid-season and the manager remains convinced that Bardghji’s role will expand as the campaign progresses.

The final word, though, belonged to Bardghji himself. During international duty, the Swedish forward finally addressed the rumours and delivered a message that leaves no room for doubt.

What did he say?

Before stating his position, Bardghji mentioned how much he enjoys life at the club and the strong working relationship he has already built with his manager. Then came his emphatic declaration,

“At Barça I have a great time and I also have a very good relationship with Hansi, who is an incredible coach.

“He and the club trust me, and that means a lot. The rest I don’t know, a lot of things are written, but I’m not worried about them.”

His words make it clear that despite the outside noise and the temptation of regular minutes elsewhere, Bardghji is staying put.
