Opinion: I was at Brazil vs Senegal and saw Chelsea star Estevao Willian outperform£133m player

Chelsea and Brazil star Estevao Willian is making an impact for both club and country this season.

The winger scored the opening goal in Brazil’s 2-0 win against Senegal at the Emirates on Saturday, while he also netted in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Qarabag before the international break.

Prior to the Selecao’s latest friendly, Estevao was told that he needed to press more by manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Which Chelsea player are you looking forward to watching the most in the International Break?

The 18-year-old and his teammates did just that in north London as they put constant pressure on former Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy. Estevao was brilliant overall, outshining even a couple of Real Madrid superstars on the afternoon.

Estevao Willian outshone Vinicius Junior in Brazil vs Senegal

All eyes would have been on Vinicius Junior, but The Chelsea Chronicle saw Estevao produce a better performance than both the 25-year-old and his Real Madrid teammate Rodrygo live at the Emirates.

All three created opportunities for Brazil, but Vinicius was unable to set up a big chance like Estevao and Rodrygo, while the Chelsea wonderkid was the only one out of the trio who managed to get his name on the scoresheet.

Manchester United’s Casemiro grabbed the Selecao’s other goal after a lengthy VAR review.

Vinicius has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in recent days, but it is going to take a fortune for Chelsea to sign him.

According to Sky Sport CH, Real Madrid value their Brazil international at €150m (£132.6m).

While a switch to Enzo Maresca’s side seems highly unlikely, The Chelsea Chronicle understands that Chelsea have interest in Vinicius’ Real Madrid teammate Endrick.

Estevao Willian should be a starter for Chelsea after international break

For as good as Estevao has been this term, Maresca has been reluctant to make the former Palmeiras star a starter. In the Premier League, he has been named in the Chelsea head coach’s first XI just four times.

When club football returns after this round of international fixtures, the above has to change. As Estevao showed against Senegal with his goal, he makes things happen. Despite still being a teenager, the attacker already looks very efficient in the final third.

During Chelsea’s draw with Qarabag in the Champions League, Everton legend Leon Osman commented on Estevao’s end product and his talent, which Blues supporters will no doubt want to see more of in the coming weeks.
