Week 10's matchup with the Baltimore Ravens is one that a few Minnesota Vikings players would like to forget.
Not only did Minnesota lose 27-19, but three players - cornerback Fabian Moreau, cornerback Isaiah Rodgers, and linebacker Dallas Turner - were fined for their actions during the game.
Turner got the worst of it, receiving two fines totaling $34,778 for a hip-drop tackle on Ravens running back Justice Hill and for a hit on a quarterback play in which he drove Lamar Jackson to the turf using his full weight.
Moreau's fine was small in comparison, getting penalized $6,972 for use of the helmet.
But of the fines handed out to Minnesota players, Rodgers' was arguably the most egregious. He was hit for $17,389 for a hip-drop tackle on Ravens receiver Rashod Bateman that injured the 25-year-old wideout's ankle.
Rodgers wasn't flagged on the play, which head coach John Harbaugh took exception to after the game.
"What is a hip drop tackle?" Harbaugh asked. "It’s an enigma apparently that can’t be called during the game. It looked like a hip-drop tackle, I think so, based on the definition."
Bateman didn't practice all week and he's been ruled out for Sunday's Week 11 game against the Cleveland Browns. Multiple reports indicate that Bateman could miss some time because of the injury.
"I think he’s going to be OK," Harbaugh told reporters this week. "He has an ankle sprain, and we’ll see how serious it is. We’ll see [whether he’ll miss any games]."
Bateman had just one catch in last week's game for 10 yards before the injury.
Through nine games, he ranks second on the team in touchdowns (two), third in targets (31), and fourth in receptions (16) and receiving yards (194).
