Arsenal duo suffer injury setback on international duty

International breaks always arrive with mixed feelings for Premier League clubs.

Managers want their players to gain minutes, stay sharp and return confident.

But there is always the fear that something could go wrong far away from club control.

Arsenal are chasing major goals this season, and their position at the top of the table shows how much every detail matters.

They have a huge league fixture coming up and a massive European test right after that.

So any disruption, even a minor one, hits differently.

Liverpool supporters will also be watching these developments closely.

Arsenal are big-time title contenders, and any setback to their key performers could shape the race later on.

Two Arsenal defenders have now been caught in that uncomfortable international-break spotlight.

The first is the centre-back who has been a major part of Arsenal’s strong defensive record.

Gabriel suffered a groin problem during Brazil’s 2-0 friendly win over Senegal at the Emirates.

He pulled up off the ball just before the hour mark and needed treatment on his right thigh before coming off.

Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that the situation is still unclear.

“Bad? I don’t know.”

”He had an injury in his adductor,” Ancelotti said.

He added that, “The medical staff has to check tomorrow.”

The veteran coach also showed his frustration.

“We are really sorry for this, really disappointed.”

”When a player has an injury, you hope they can recover well and soon.”

The second concern involves Riccardo Calafiori.

The Italian defender did not feature in Italy’s win over Moldova and had been following an individual training plan.

Italy boss Gennaro Gattuso explained the decision before their match against Norway.

“We tried Calafiori, he had a few issues,” he told Sky Sports Italia.

He continued, “I thank him for his commitment. He stayed here for a week, he could have played perhaps, but it wouldn’t have been fair to him or Arsenal.”

For Liverpool, these updates matter.

Arsenal’s depth will be tested as the title race tightens, and every injury could shift momentum in a season where small margins decide everything.
