Falcons vs. Panthers: The matchup
The Falcons have shown glimpses of a playoff team, but enter the weekend with a 3-6 overall record and a need to rack up wins, and soon. Atlanta has now lost four straight games while playing a stretch of five games that featured four teams with winning records. The Falcons have good wins under their belt over the Minnesota Vikings (22-6) and Buffalo Bills (24-14), but they’ve seen their offense slow down in disappointing losses to the San Francisco 49ers (20-10) and Miami Dolphins (34-10). Atlanta pushed the New England Patriots to their limits in a 24-23 loss in Week 9 and fell in overtime last week (31-25) to the AFC South-leading Indianapolis Colts.
The Panthers go into Week 11 with a 5-5 overall record and a sound 30-0 thumping of these Falcons under their belts back in Week 3. Carolina has been a pleasant surprise since starting the season with a 1-3 mark through four games, but looks for a rebound performance after falling at home to rookie quarterback Tyler Shough and the New Orleans Saints (17-7) last Sunday. The Panthers face two more big challenges against the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams in their next two games before a Week 14 bye.
