Bears vs. Vikings: The matchup
Caleb Williams and the Bears have shown a knack for winning games in dramatic fashion, mounting a fourth-quarter comeback last weekend to defeat the New York Giants (24-20) after taking a last-second win over the Cincinnati Bengals (47-42) a week earlier. Trailing the Giants, 20-10, in the fourth quarter last Sunday, Williams connected with Rome Odunze for a 2-yard strike to cap a 91-yard scoring drive with 3:56 remaining, then he scored himself on a 17-yard touchdown to give the Bears a 24-20 lead.
The Vikings have lost three of their past four games to slip below .500 with a 4-5 season record. The lone victory over that stretch was a surprising 27-24 win over the Detroit Lions on the road two weeks ago to help Minnesota stay in the fight for an NFC Wild Card berth. The Vikings still have work to do as they pin their hopes on young quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who engineered a comeback to beat the Lions but struggled in last week’s 27-19 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, completing just 20 of 42 passes for 248 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions.
