Green Bay Packers fans excited by Brandon McManus announcement ahead of Week 11

The Green Bay Packers are hoping to end their two-game losing streak when they take on the New York Giants on Sunday afternoon on the road. At 5-3-1, Green Bay sits at third place in the NFC North, but can climb back into first with a win and if the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions both lose.

In order to defeat the 2-8 Giants, the Packers need to continue their dominant play on defense, but also see much improved play on offense and special teams. As fans are well aware, Green Bay’s three losses this season have come by three points, and each was a game in which Brandon McManus missed a field goal.

Over the past several weeks, fans have been calling on the Packers to make a change at kicker, as McManus has been struggling and playing hurt.

On Sunday they will get their wish.

The Green Bay Packers are starting Lucas Havrisik over Brandon McManus vs the New York Giants

Green Bay Packers kicker Lucas Havrisik kicks a field goal during the fourth quarter of their game Sunday, October 12, 2025 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Green Bay Packers beat the Cincinnati Bengals 27-18.

McManus was a late addition to the Green Bay injury report over the weekend, and listed as doubtful to play against New York. As a result, Lucas Havrisik, who filled in for McManus when he missed time with injury earlier this season, will start in his place.

And fans are thrilled:

honestly this whole thing and not playing the guy who holds your franchise record for longest kick while losing by those margins is starting to wear on me. he was just good to go earlier in the week in fact his st coach said he’s striking the ball well. wtf is going on. https://t.co/QUWJKktiTp

During his brief stint as the Packers’ starting kicker earlier this season, Havrisik set the franchise record for longest field goal with a 61-yarder.

McManus has the lowest field goal percentage in the NFL this season at 64.7%.
