Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback D’Shawn Jamison has been elevated from the practice squad to the active roster for the team’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Jamison has been with the Steelers for the past two seasons, and signed in September of 2024. He had a solid training camp this year, earning his way to the practice squad yet again. This will be the first game he has played with the Steelers.
A slot cornerback, Jamison will likely play some special teams and focus on being Brnadin Echols’ backup in the case of another injury to the defensive backfield.
Jamison started out with the San Francisco as an underrated free agent in the 2023 NFL Draft. Coming out of Texas, Jamison drew offers from multiple teams. So, when the 49ers cut him following the preseason, the Panthers claimed him off waivers and he spent the entire season on their roster.
He spent five seasons with the Longhorns, playing long enough to become a team captain. Jamison ran a 4.51 40-yard dash coming out of college.
Jamison and Echols highlight the Steelers’ slot cornerback options, while Echols can also end up playing outside in the need of an injury to another player on the cornerback depth chart.
