Former NBA players Jason Williams and Patrick Beverley crossed a restricted boundary last week. Their crude comments about Klay Thompson’s girlfriend, rapper Megan Thee Stallion, led to endless chatter across the sports community.

Recently, LeSean McCoy joined the chorus of critics on the Speakeasy podcast. The former Philadelphia Eagles running back didn’t just criticize Williams’s nasty remarks.
He even warned that if Thompson’s former teammate Draymond Green takes the lead, then Green would handle Williams’s business in the worst way possible.
LeSean McCoy Goes Off on Williams and Beverley’s Disrespectful Comments
McCoy made it clear he was disgusted by what he heard. The two-time Super Bowl champion said Beverley needs to be slapped for his words’ selection. He stated that both Williams and Beverley can’t match Thompson’s talent on his worst day.
But McCoy’s real fire came when discussing how this situation will play out. He predicted Thompson won’t handle it himself because that’s not his style. Instead, McCoy believes Green will step in.
“You know what it is though? They can get that off of Klay, you know what I mean?” McCoy said. “Cause Klay isn’t really into all that. He plays a good dude. I love Klay. He gonna settle that with Draymond Green though. You know why? Cause he’s probably gonna punch his mouth.”
That’s not just trash talk. McCoy knows Green’s reputation for defending teammates. The Warriors forward has never been shy about confrontation. McCoy basically put Williams and Beverley on notice.
The retired running back then shifted to the bigger picture. He questioned why former players would disrespect women this way when they have families of their own.
“Respect a man woman. Why are we talking about women in that fashion anyway? You got kids and all that. … You gotta be respectful though,” McCoy added.
His point hit home. Williams and Beverley aren’t random internet trolls. They’re former NBA players with platforms and children. Their words carry weight.
McCoy’s comments bridged the gap between defending Thompson’s girlfriend and addressing the root problem. It’s not just about basketball or relationships. It’s about basic respect. And when that minimum boundary gets crossed, consequences follow.
What Williams and Beverley Actually Said About Thompson
The controversy began on the Hoopin’ N Hollerin’ podcast earlier last week. Williams suggested Thompson’s relationship with the Grammy-winning rapper might explain his shooting struggles this season.
“I’m from West Virginia, man. I’ve been taught a lot by some old folks, old white folks. They say p***’s powerful,” Williams said. “They say it’s so powerful … it only takes one … to drag a battleship across a desert, that’s how powerful it is.”
Hecontinued: “Klay Thompson- I ain’t saying that’s what it is, but that might be what it is. That ain’t taking nothing away from Megan Thee Stallion. She might be a great girl, great for him. But I don’t know if she’s great for the shot.”
Beverley piled on with his own analysis of Thompson’s situation.
“I’ve never seen Klay not shoot it like this,” Beverley said. “His routine is thrown off. I’m not saying it’s her… I watch them on Instagram… The guy was juggling. It’s easy to juggle one thing, but when you put something else in there it’s harder, [your] focus takes off a lil bit.”
Thompson responded directly in the comment section of the Instagram post. The Dallas Mavericks guard called the nasty remarks “disgusting and disturbing.”
He questioned how Williams and Beverley would feel if someone spoke about their wives in such a manner. That response showed Thompson wasn’t letting this slide.
The basketball community has already rallied behind Thompson. With McCoy joining in the scene, now it got significant attention from the football community as well. It remains to be seen if Green actually puts his hat on to handle the off-court drama surrounding his friend.
