Dominik Szoboszlai has arguably been Liverpool’s best player so far this season.
The midfielder has two goals and five assists from 16 appearances, and has stood out in an underachieving Reds team.
Come the end of the campaign, Szoboszlai will have only two years to run on his Liverpool contract. Given the quality of his performances, this has led to nervousness amongst the fanbase.

On current form, the Hungarian is one of the first names on the teamsheet for Arne Slot, and the Reds must do whatever they can to keep him.
Still only 25, Szoboszlai is developing into a real leader at Anfield. He could theoretically run Liverpool’s midfield for almost a decade more.
Happily, recent reports have emerged that Liverpool have offered a new contract to Szoboszlai. However, rumours have been circulating that Real Madrid may attempt to sign the No. 8 before he can put pen to paper.

Dominik Szoboszlai to Real Madrid could depend on Liverpool talks
Liverpool are in a very strong position when it comes to Szoboszlai. With two-and-a-half years left on his contract they do not necessarily have to worry too much about Real Madrid.
Nevertheless, when the Spanish giants enter the picture in any form, it can be a nervous time for any club.

Los Blancos can be hard to resist and if they did come after Szoboszlai, then it is very possible they could turn his head.
This was the question more or less posed to journalist Fabrizio Romano on social media site Threads on Sunday. Simply asked whether Szoboszlai is coming to Real Madrid, Romano reiterated that contract talks with Liverpool have to happen first.

“Liverpool have offered Szobo a new deal. Let’s see how talks go!” says the transfer expert.
The Reds have not been especially successful with contract talks in recent times, and supporters may worry that like Trent Alexander-Arnold and potentially Ibrahima Konate, Szoboszlai may still be tempted by the allure of Madrid.
Fabrizio Romano offers Ibrahima Konate progress update
As well as looking at the contract situation of Szoboszlai, Romano weighed in on what’s going on with Konate on Sunday as well.
Konate publicly commented on his contract saga on Saturday, confirming that he and his agents are still in talks with Liverpool over a deal that ends in barely six months’ time.
Asked for his take on the current situation on Threads, Romano reiterated that discussions between the centre-back and Liverpool have not stopped.
“Talks between Konate and Liverpool are still ongoing. Let’s see!” he said.
If Liverpool can get both Szoboszlai and Konate signed up before switching their attention to the likes of Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister, fans will rest a lot more easily.
