Eagles' pivotal stage will either silence or ignite the Jalen Hurts critics

There are a lot of people who are doubting the Philadelphia Eagles can weather the storm from the latest A.J. Brown drama, but more attention has been fixated on how Jalen Hurts is doing on the field.

Philly's "favorite" (with the highest level of sarcasm) reporter Dianna Russini shared a report that sources told her some on the Eagles' offense are frustrated with him. They feel he's been too conservative with his decisions when throwing the football.

While the concept of Hurts is facing criticism for his play on the field, there seems to be a greater spotlight on him to perform well and lead the offense in a way Eagles fans haven't seen all season.

Hurts now has pressure to perform well, but hasn't he already been good this year?

Breaking down the numbers, Hurts is having statistically one of the best seasons of his NFL career. He's completed 68.9% of his passes (that would be a career-high) for 1,860 yards and 16 touchdowns to one interception. Hurts has added 234 yards on the ground and five more scores in nine games.

Some people want Hurts to be more aggressive, but Eagles fans already saw what he is like when he does that back in 2023. Remember the career-high 15 interceptions, and everyone criticized him for that? Now he's not being aggressive enough.

Eagles fans would rather him not be aggressive than too aggressive. It's like no matter what, he is going to feel some heat for his play. One interception and two fumbles the whole season is pretty impressive to have.

Unfortunately for Hurts, he's going to have to rip it on the field with his passes. He has to get Brown more involved in the passing game and give some targets to DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert as well.

Eagles fans are not going to care as long as Hurts keeps winning games, but there will be a point where Hurts will have to string a few solid games of passing to get the media off his back. That's if he cares, but everyone knows getting that W is the only thing that matters to him.
